Year 5/6 Inter-generational Project

Be Belonging is an inter-generational project which brings together local elders and school children. The aim of the project is to give children a sense of what it was like for our elders when they were growing up. Our Year 5/6 children have got together with the elders over zoom to share stories and ideas, and the children have interviewed the elders to find out more about childhood in the 40s and 50s.

Those interviews have been recorded and we have taken snippets of monologue from the elders' stories. The children have now started work with local musician, Holly Marland, to create soundscapes to accompany these audio monologues.

The soundscapes and stories will be shared and available to listen to throughout the libraries in Calderdale through April.
