Visit from local author Liz Flanagan

Liz Flanagan author of Dragon Daughter and Rise of the Shadow Dragons (to name but a few of her titles) came to visit Key Stage 2 in readiness for World Book Day on March 3rd.

Liz spoke to the children about being an author and talked through some of the titles she has written. The children were thoroughly engaged and hung off her every word! They came up with some excellent questions and learnt a little more as to what it takes to become a successful author.

Liz said “The children were super bright and engaged, what great kids.”

After the assembly Liz ran a short writing workshop with Year 5/6. They had to create a magical creature that hatched out of an egg. Some children used non-fiction books to inspire their ideas while others let their imagination run wild! The children LOVED the session and continued their stories long after Liz had left. A thought provoking and inspiring morning; maybe, in years to come, one of the children in Year 5/6 will see their writing in print…..
