Easter Service 2024
We had beautiful Easter Service at St. James’ church on Friday 22nd March. It was lovely to see some of our parents and families there and even better to watch them get into the swing of things and sing with the children. This year we had readings from some of our Year 5/6 children - Jack, Orson, Ella and Isaac. Flossy read an extract from The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe. In the allegory of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Aslan represents Christ. Aslan's death to save Edmund's life and his subsequent resurrection are clear references to the life of Christ.
The children sang a number of songs to celebrate this important event in the Christian calendar: Our God is a Great Big God, Lord I Lift Your Name on High, Spring Chicken & He’s Got The Whole World in His Hands.
At the end of the service the children came to the front of the church to place prayers/blessings on a map of the world; the children are acutely aware of the troubles in certain parts of the world at present and wanted to send out positive thoughts for a quick resolution to the ongoing suffering. This map, with all of the lovely blessings, is now proudly displayed in the church.
