Year 5/6 Compass Work - Forest School
The Year 5/6 children started compass work in their Forest School session looking. The children all held a compass and had a go at finding north. They found this tricky at first and some of the children had to take their watches off as they interrupted the magnetic fields. The children were then set the task of being in a group and hiding a woodland animal/ bird, they had to use the compass to create a set of directions. Once the children had checked their directions they swapped their written directions with another group. The children then went to find their new creature.
The children all toasted marshmallows as a treat to mark the end of the half term. As the fire was burning we discussed what we had done this half term and reflected on what the children found tricky and interesting.
