World Book Day 2024
We had a great day celebrating World Book Day - some amazing costumes on display and some very creative choices for our Geography link.
the challenge:
Do you know an author from outside of the UK? Have you read a story that is set in a different country? The author may be British, the story might be set in the UK but there could be a character in the book from a different country...
Children came to school dressed as a character and told their teacher, either: where the author was from or where the story was set or where their chosen character was from.
We plotted a simple world map on the playground. Once all of the children went to the country/continent of their chosen character we could see how many of the 7 continents we were able to cover as a school; we managed to fill 6 continents (unfortunately, not Antarctica) and we probably covered over 40 different countries at a rough count.
Thank you to the kids for looking so awesome, the parents for helping to make costumes or provide ideas and inspiration. Last, but by no means least, a thank you to the staff for their wholehearted involvement and good humour!
