Spring at Mytholm Meadows
Year 3 and 4 and the residents had a lovely time at Mytholm Meadows community event on Thursday 2 May. Our class helped with many activities from discussing their input and ideas about design of the garden, to making pots and planting seeds for the Kitchen garden.
Whilst serving refreshments, we chatted to the residents and encourage parents and visitors to get involved. We encouraged many visitors to sign pledges offering help with the garden and support with activities at the home, which were very welcome.
One of the activities we enjoyed was to improve people’s empathy with the ageing process. It involved wearing thick gloves to peel an orange and wearing sunglasses at the same time to demonstrate the problems old people might have with poor sight and diminishing dexterity in their hands. Another was to feed someone else, experiencing how this felt to have lack of control.
