Moon Buggies - Design & Technology

The children in Year 5/6 have carried out a Design & Technology project based around Moon Buggies (linked to their science topic on Earth & Space)

They began their project by asking the following questions:

What is the purpose of a moon buggy?

What features do you think a moon buggy will have?

They worked in pairs to then design three different moon buggies with labels that included:

·         Number of wheels

·         Shape of frame

·         Seat

·         Any additional features

Once the children had completed their three designs, they came up with design criteria in order of importance; they were then ready to begin drawing a side and front view of their chosen design.  Discussions were held with classmates and other pairs before putting an action plan in place.  Children thought carefully about the steps they would need to take to make their buggies and the equipment and materials required.
