EYFS - ART (Frida Kahlo)
On Friday 10th of February EYFS spent some time learning about Frida Kahlo and looking at her self-portraits. We learnt that she was from Mexico and that her Mexican heritage was very important to her which is why she included references to that in her portraits.
We found flowers, tropical leaves, butterflies, moths, monkeys and cats in her paintings. We learnt that she had to stay in hospital a lot as a child and young person, during this time she practiced drawing and painting of herself using a mirror.
After exploring Frida Kahlo's artwork we spent time creating self-portrait collages using photos and coloured paper cut outs. Some of us added bright red lipstick and dark eyebrows as well. We had lovely morning and produced some amazing art.
